This year marks the 50th anniversary of Malaysia Independence Day. As far as everyone concern, Malaysia has achieved so much success in various fields and undergone vast development. Even, Malaysia had already sent a man to space. Is there any doubt on Malaysia''s development? However, recent disorders and conflicts that took place here tell us a different story. Is Malaysia really stable? Don''t mistaken me. Hope you get my idea before you blame me as being anti-government. Just within two months, many
illegal assembly and rallies had taken place and the '' BERSIH'' rally and HINDRAF rally had top others. Several are charged, links with terrorists are touted, ISA orders had been used, inflict outburst in nation, even affect nation''s tourism industry as been said by the minister himself. What''s going on now and is there any still to come? I don''t want to elaborate more on those rallies and illegal assembly. Of course I don''t want to be cited as against the government and ended up in jail. I just want top share or come up with suggestions that I think can cope these problems. What can we do, as Malaysian, to preserve country''s stable atmosphere? For this,
racial harmony is the only way, I mean the best way we can come up with.
Malaysian of diverse races, religions, beliefs and cultures must put aside all the differences and strengthen their resolve to work towards the promotion of racial unity, which is, as i said before, the best way and crucial step for the future of the nation. Every Malaysian, at least those who are concern about nation''s progress and harmony should bear in their mind and make wish that there should be no disruption to the peace and harmony built up over the years through the co-operation of all ethnic groups.
As peace and harmony are vital for nation-building and unity, we must be fully conscious of the need to reject the forces of violence and extremism of all forms. Although ethnic relations in the country are generally satisfactory as we can see through our daily lives and routines, we must not take our inter-racial and inter-religious harmony for granted.
On the other hand, continuous efforts must be made to ensure to ensure that ethnic integration and religious harmony is well-preserved and maintained at all times, i mean at all times as they are the foundation for peace and unity in our nation. Let us not jeopardise what we have achieved so far through the spirit of brotherhood, understanding and accommodation. We should also never allow extremism in any form and violence to divide and ruin our nation, which we all love as it is our birthplace and eventually our resting place. In any democratic country, there must be avenues for the dissatisfied and aggrieved to air and speak up their grievances and dissatisfaction and as you all already notice, Malaysia is one great example of democracy-practicing country. In this regard, they should use all the available avenues to express their thoughts and comments to the authorities. The delivery system which is introduced at the early part of this year is an example how people, the public can express their comments and problems. The government then has to listen and provide mechanisms to deal with these grievances, real or otherwise. To provide an additional avenue for free expression, it may be appropriate for the government to set up a national-level consultative council to deliberate on the key issues concerning the rights and the welfares off all ethnic groups in Malaysia. Last but not least, we should always express our opinions in a le way and not through violence or street protest. My hope is that this article will inflict even a little bit of awareness among readers to love their country. Our country had done a lot to us, so why can''t we protect it? At least we don''t have to ruin it, right? Anyhow, I love my country and hope you guys love your country too.
