Summary of
American History X
The film begins with a shocking opening scene where Danny is waking up his older
brother, Derek, because two black people was breaking into his truck. Derek grab shis gun, runs out of the house, and shoots both of the young black men.
Derek gets 3 years in jail, and he is getting enemies fast, as he shows of his tattoo of a swastika. He hangs out with the white people in the jail. Derek gets to work with black Larmont, his prison laundry co-worker and eventual pal. They end up talking a lot, and Derek changes his mind; he’s no longer a racist.
Meanwhile, Derek’s little brother Danny, with a shaved head and a rebellious attitude, wants to follow in his older brother's footsteps, as he’s just as Derek was when he was young. When Derek get’s out of jail, he’s a different person. He tries to get Danny out of the racist gang, and he succeeds. Derek manages to change his little brother, so he is not a racist anymore.
One day when Danny is at school, he goes to the bathroom to pee. When he turns around, he sees a black guy with a gun. The Black guy shoots him, and Danny is dead. Derek rushes to the scene, and the movie ends with him crying while holding his did brother in his arms.
